HIEN & MATTHEW | VILLA CAPRI | WEDDING

I had the pleasure of shooting Hien & Matthew’s Wedding a while back with Graham Scobey.
We met up in North Haven for the ceremony where I found some nice floral work and a few really cute kids.I really loved this old organ they had at the church.
Alright… I can’t resist the cute kids…. there was actually a bride at this wedding too…
After the ceremony we headed over to a park in the center of town and got a few great shots of the wedding party.
Then we got to the reception.  Everyone was enjoying themselves and having a lot of fun… but no one was dancing…
It might have been the 6 or 7 course traditional meal they served that delayed the dancing…
but all of a sudden there was some M.J. played and the party really got started.  Even Grandpa was busting out his moves!

Thanks again to the talented Graham Scobey for being so great to work with and having me assist him on this wedding shoot.

SNOWDAY

Here’s a little home movie I made of my daughter enjoying her day off from school. I had some fun with my new Canon Eos T2i playing around with some slow motion footage.

MOVING CHOCOLATES

Justin warned me, ‘don’t carry two of them at a time, you don’t want to hurt yourself.” I didn’t listen.  He was referring to the cement blocks we were carrying into the basement of his soon to be new home.  I should have listened, the next trip I only carried one.  He had been doing this all week and was far wiser than I on these matters of how many cement blocks you should carry at a time.  We made trip after trip around the corner ferrying items from the old place to the new place.  The day continued, the cold continued, the bins continued.  We got most of it by the time I left but there was still plenty more work left for Mary & Justin.  They rewarded me with New Haven Apizza.  I was happy.  I’m easy that way.  Give me some pizza and I’ll do almost anything for you…
except moving…
I think I’m done with that:)

Sitting here a few weeks later, I find a nice little box at the door.  It was heavy for it’s size. The kind of heavy that you know is gonna be good.  The kind of heavy that when you pick it up, and shake it, it doesn’t move because it’s using up all the space in the box.  The kind of heavy that is either going to be something shiny or something delicious.  The kind of heavy that…. well, you get the picture.  Anyways, it was the later…. the delicious kind.

All these chocolates got me thinking.  First, that I should have stayed on the elliptical an extra half hour today, but also, that things have a funny way of working out.  Justin & Mary searched for a year for the perfect house all over the state and ended up finding it right in front of them, just around the corner.  By moving a few feet down the road, their view changes tremendously.  It goes from an old apartment building across the street, to waterfront sunsets every evening.  I’m thinking the next time I feel like I need to move mountains to achieve my goals, maybe all I really need to do is take a few steps.  I just need to change my angle, my view of it.  Then maybe I’ll see what I was missing in the first place, and if I still don’t see it, then at least I’ve taken a few more steps towards it.

Anyways, thanks for the chocolates Justin & Mary.  They’re delicious.
I was thinking of writing something clever about how the two of you are like these chocolates, with one of you being the caramel and the other being the chocolate covering… but I’ll leave that to you, Mary.  I don’t think I can pull it off.

For those of you not familiar with Justin & Mary, you can check out their fanatastic wedding and engagment photography at justinmarantz.com

CHRISTINA & PETER | WOODWINDS OF BRANFORD | WEDDING

Back in September I had the pleasure of shooting Christina & Peter’s wedding at Woodwinds of Branford in Branford, CT.  I was assisting Anthony DeCarlo of Anthony DeCarlo Photography on this wedding and we had a great time.  We headed over to the Blackstone Memorial Library in Branford for some group shots earlier in the day.  Once those were done, everyone headed to Woodwinds of Branford for both the ceremony and reception.  I was impressed with Woodwinds outdoor chapel.  It was quiet, surrounded by water and had great landscaping, a great place to hold an outdoor wedding ceremony.

Jenn, Bob & Morgan | Holiday Family Portrait

I met up with Jenn, Bob & Morgan this weekend while they were tailgating up at the Jones Family Tree Farm with some friends.  They were on the hunt for the perfect Christmas tree and I tagged along to capture some of the action!  We had a great sunset and got a few Christmas Card worthy pictures out of the afternoon.  The Jones Tree Farm is the place to go in Shelton, CT if you’re in need of a Christmas tree this season.

Ava & Andrew | Portrait

Ava & Andrew are ready for Halloween and couldn’t wait to show off their costumes during this portrait session.  I have a feeling they won’t have any trouble procuring large amounts of candy come October 31st.
